Description
COMING IN JANUARY
A beautiful woman reclines on a day bed in a cool room. Is she escaping the heat of the day, or waiting?
Original limited-edition fine art serigraph. Signed and numbered by the artist. Edition of 16. Image area 13.5 x 10.5 inches (27 x 34 cm). Archival art papers. Overall size 20 x 15 inches (51 x 38 cm). COA.
I drew this model many times in the spring of 2025 in charcoal and Conte crayon on 18 x 24 inch drawing paper. I created this color serigraphy edition in December, 2025, one of my first prints of this complexity. All art including the border are hand-drawn.
This is a hand-crafted artwork. As such there will be variations in individual prints. The colors as shown on your screen may not be exact.
“Edition variée” — so called because artists love French terms — refers to the misregistrations and stray ink marks that give this otherwise relaxed scene a subtle hint of hurry. It makes each print, in a sense, a unique monoprint within the edition. In this and two previous projects, I capitalized on the unexpected, slightly shifting registration and embracing inconsistencies to add movement and an emotional, visual texture. A bit vintage, like Andy Warhol’s “Marilyn” prints. The E. V. technique gave my earlier editions (e.g., “Resist Hate” and “1984”) a feeling of urgency and danger, “Warm” is energized by it. It challenges traditional printmaking conventions that usually prioritize perfect alignment.
