Denis D. Du Bois is an American artist and writer whose work captures the essence and interest of world experiences. Each drawing, print and story reveals a depth of culture and place.
A trail of stories led Denis here. He launched a creative agency, a sustainability magazine, the first hiking blog, and podcasts on NPR and PRX, before turning his full attention to art with his wife, who also is an artist. He has been drawing since he could hold a Crayon.
Longer bios available on request.

Process: Denis captures energetic sketches when he travels, using a fountain pen and small sketchbook of smooth Bristol paper. Later, he adds watercolor wash, or redraws the scene on larger paper before coloring. Some of his subjects become serigraphs, where each color is its own work of art, recombined by the artist in the screen-printing studio.
Influences: Georgia O’Keefe, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, posters of revolution, Urban Sketchers and more.
Education: Arizona State University, Tempe. Entered as a Fine Arts major. After attending a semester abroad, he changed to International Business and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. Numerous postgrad art courses and workshops in art. Still learning.
Latest exhibition: Figure Drawings – group show, MAC Gallery, Wenatchee, Spring 2025.
Note
I’ve just recently launched a site at denisdubois.com where my art is offered for sale. An artist’s statement and online portfolio will take more time to build. So much art! If you need something, please ask me.
