Do you have an authentic Denis Du Bois original artwork?
Congratulations, you’ve added an original Denis Du Bois artwork to your collection! The value of art relies in part on its authenticity and the limited number of prints. Copying and forgery devalue art and artists. Here’s how to tell if your print is authentic.
- My original limited-edition serigraphs are signed and numbered by me, customarily in pencil, below the image area of the sheet. The inscription would be, for example, “6/100 … (title) … Du Bois 2025”. The number represents the print’s position in the printing of the limited edition (6th) and the limited number of prints in the edition (100). These are only examples.
- Large format art bears an emboss with my name, my family crest, and the word “AUTHENTIC.” You’ll be able to feel the emboss from both sides of the paper. Only one such embossing tool exists, and it lives in my safe.
- Original art is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that includes an image of the artwork, my emboss, and my signature.
- My open edition prints may be signed, but without a number.
- Reproductions by giclee or laser printers will not be embossed or individually signed, however my signature may be part of the image that is reproduced.
- If the front, back, or packaging of the artwork or COA bears a QR code, scanning it will lead you to this web page.
